Well first off do you have a good book to start with. You sound like you
need to know some basics such as calling functions with arguments. The one I
used along with the internet is
Javascript Unleashed by Sams...they are on the third edition and it is
excellent...but it is more of a test book...so if you don't have experience
in programming try any of the sams book in 21 days
such as Learn Javascript 1.4 in 21 days...it sounds impossible but these
books make it possible...you will learn up to some intermediate features
about programming in JS.
