Try object-oriented programming with java an introduction by David j.
barnes. I am a student a Kent uni in the uk and this guy is my lecturer, I
am not plugging this book just because of that. It is a really great book
for beginners, but will also teach u the advanced stuff in a simple easy to
understand way
