It is slow (oh so slow) and clunky. The Visual Composition Editor (VCE) component palette does not have all (many, most) of the AWT or SWING components. Of course, I just started using it and that could be the reason for some of my difficulty. Right now, I'm trying to construct a nested pull-down menu. Something like the 'standard' FILE pull-down on Windows platforms. But, the Visual Age palette does not have the required AWT (FileDialog) or SWING (JFileChooser) classes in the component palette. This means that I have to read the documentation and hope that it describes how to incorporate visual classes into Java Code to effect nested pop-ups. I don't know (yet) how much work there is having only spent 6-8 hours in reading (so far). However, using Borland Builder C++, all of the visual classes are available and the process seems easier. So, alright for slow, great for reading, maybe wonderful for the experienced, but really undesireable for the computing public. art Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
