Yes, I gave up on Java's layout managers, and now just set
my layoutManager to null. You have to calculate positions
yourself, but the control you get over it is worth it. Check
out how its used at my website (http://www.rstorme.com). I
can resize, hide, show, or reposition as I wish. Probably
goes against many philosophys out there, but it works for
me.
