Within a new project I added all my source files located in directory <projectbasedir>/src/aaa/bbb/ccc/ which belong obviously all to the package aaa.bbb.ccc One of these source files use a class karl: karl myvariable; ...which can be found in a "neigbour" directory: <projectbasedir>/src/aaa/bbb/ddd/ The package aaa.bbb.ddd is added to the project as well. Now, when I make/compile the project I get an error: "blahblah.java": Error #:300: class karl not found in class aaa.bbb.ccc.blahblah at line 32 column 10 Why ? I already added the other package to my project. So karl.class MUST be found. The class karl is not available as java source but the compiled class is located in the directory ddd. Do I have to extend the CLASSPATH for this scenario ? cu Ulf

If you don't have the source then karl.class is essentially a library. You could copy the .class file into the appropriate sub-directory of the classes directory by hand (not recommended), or make a library out of it by going to Project Properties / Paths / Required Libraries ... - sarge
