JBuilder designer doing strange things!?

I am working on a simple About box that displays some info. It is a Dialog
with a BevelPanel, some text labels, and an OK button that closes the
dialog. The code looks fine, and it runs perfect. I was able to visually
build it just fine in the form designer. But now the designer has suddenly
gone wacky on me!

I cannot click on certain controls to select them. They act like they
would in a running program! When I click on a button it depresses. I
cannot grab it and move it to another location on the dialog. But I can
select it by clicking on its name over in the navigator pane, and then
edit the properties. I tried dropping other controls onto the form, and
they had the same problem. Click on a checkbox and it checks or unchecks.
If I add some tooltip text for these controls over in the property
inspector, then the tooltip text will pop up when I enter them with the
mouse pointer. Just exactly like it should work in a running program. But
remember, I'm in the form designer and have not yet run the program at
all!

I blew away the whole project, rebooted, created a new project, and
added my source files back in (this has fixed other mysterious problems
for me in the past). But it still has the same problem.

What in the heck is going on here?!

Mike:

Sounds like you set the "enabled" property on the Frame. JBuilder uses Java
and the VM to show you what you are really working on (closest thing to
WYSIWYG you'll find). Set the enabled property on the frame to true and the
children in that container start to use their runtime behaviour.

Very strange. I haven't heard of this problem before.

It sounds as if the 'this' property in the Component Tree has it's
'Enabled' property set to True. Is that the case?

Mike:

You cross posted out in the java.lang world and I responede there. Summary is
that you have somehow set the frame property "enabled" to true. Since all the
designer is doing is delegating to the VM (which is how it's so WYSIWYG), you
end up with a sort of "runtime" example of the component behaviour (no events,
just the action). Set enabled back to false and all should be well again.
