Ok, I'm writing a Java modem bean

Having had no luck in finding a Java modem class or bean, I guess I'll have to write a modem bean myself. I'm soliciting suggestions for requirements for this item. My plan right now is to make a bean that can display a small 'modem lights' panel with pseudo-LEDs for things like DTR, CD, etc., and perhaps a couple of LEDs for the RX and TX as well (this might turn out to be too burdensome for the CPU, so it may or may not be feasible). The bean will also have the ability to dial a generic Hayes-type modem with standard AT commands, will interface to the modem via the javax.comm API, and provide a stream interface through the modem. If anyone has additional ideas for this bean, particularly in the area of events that would be useful or ways in which it could accomodate oddball AT commands sets, please email them to me. If really necessary, you can just post them, but email is easiest (for me, that is). *OR*, if you know of a modem bean or class already in existence, I'd really appreciate a pointer to it. Thanks. mail to modembean@cymerian.com
