AUSTRALIAN JAVA

There is obviously a tremendous interest in Java, but I am
interested in knowing the level
of real Java development projects committed to by organisations
(especially in Australia).

There may be interest out there in establishing a register of
Australian Java projects detailing
their vital statistics. I realise we are all attempting to steal
a march on each other when it
comes to new technologies, but there could be real gains in
having a little ongoing survey of
the level of success in adopting Java.

Any interest? Perhaps some Australian Universities could provide
the administration
- we could if there is sufficient interest and no volunteers.
There is also some
discussion of an australian Java newsgroup - that would be a
start.

Soft Technologies is about to commence a three-month
proof-of-concept effort on Java based
client-server. Any Sydney locals (or others) interested in real
Java/Internet development work should look
at our SYDNEY JAVA post on aus.ads.jobs.

Be gentle if you think this idea is wacky for some reason - this
is my first post.
