Detecting whether IE5.5 is online or not ?

I am writing a short series of pages that I want to behave differently when online/offline. They will be loaded using IE5.5. The pages will *always* load as local files. When online, they will load in sequence using a script of onLoad="location.url=page2[3,4]" also loading a series of IFRAMES in each page. Then I want to detect when the browser is offline (ie "Work Offline" is selected) and in that case block the above scripts so that the page loaded will not load/switch to the next in sequence. They will in this case fill the IFRAMES from the history cache. Can this be done ? Any ideas or pointers would be most welcome Thanks friends -- Mervyn Carter ================================================ NB: Spam block in use - to reply direct change THATCHER to demon ================================================

I usually test (location.protocol=='file:') to decide how to set a link. Does that offer you a clue? -- David Gibson Spam-cloaked message: The Reply-to address *is* valid.
