Mouse events with IE5 ???

Hello, I use this function to capture mouse events on a page:

 <script Language="Javascript">

 document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN | Event.MOUSEMOVE |
Event.MOUSEUP | Event.CLICK)
 document.onMouseDown = Message

function Message() {
alert('some_message')
}

</script>

It works just fine with Netscape but I can't make it work with IE5... I
tried a couple of things such as using an event handler or using the
other events (MOUSEMOVE, etc.) but without success.

Anyone can point me out the way to make it work with IE5 ?

Thanks a lot !

Christ.

IE introduced the setCapture() and releaseCapture() methods in IE5.0,
to accomplish event capturing. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/
then select (from Left Menu) DHTML Reference then methods. Select
setCapture() and releaseCapture() from parent frame.

Thanks Jamie !

I will chek it. I have been able to do it by introducing the event handler
in the <body> tag :

<body  onMouseDown=someJSfunction()>

It works well with ie5.
