hello to you.
I like to have jscript add writing (not a gif) say, on rollover, to a
table cell or some area on the screen. is that possible ?
Can I also have the jscript modify the html itself, add another <td>
with a gif inside on rollover... or even change the size of the frames ?
this is meant for navigator and explorer 3 ...(if that matters)
--------------------------------------------------------------
whatever help you can give is very much appreciated, from a simple
'yes/no' answer to a description of how to do it, to a link a site that
does it or explains how to..
If jscript can't do this, what other ways are there ?
Many thanks
Sian.

All of these things are possible in IE4+. Some are possible in NN4+ I doubt
any are possible in IE3/NN3.
* Any ID'ed text HTML element can have its text changed by
assigning the new string as follows:
idFoo.innerText = 'some new text for you!';
Note, this is also possible in NN4 through the use of (hiss!)
layers (positioned DIV tags, or the LAYER tag itself). Check
developer.netscape.com for more details.
* Similarly, you can change the HTML contents of an element via:
idFoo.innerHTML = '<B>some new <I>HTML</I> for you!</B>';
* You can add/modify/delete tabular structures through the use of
the TABLE Object Model. See the following page for more details:
http://microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/dude/dude040698.asp
* to change the size of a frameset, you'd do the following:
given the following frameset:
<FRAMESET ID="fra0" FRAMESPACING=0 ROWS="100, *">
<FRAME SRC="fra1.htm" NAME="fra1" SCROLLING="auto">
<FRAME SRC="fra2.htm" NAME="fra2" SCROLLING="auto">
</FRAMESET>
this code called within one of the frames would resize the frames
to 50%,*
top.fra0.setAttribute("rows", "50%, 50%");
see the DHTML references within the Site Builder Workshop for more:
http://microsoft.com/workshop/author/
Sorry I can't provide more details about how this stuff is done in NN4. I'm
sure someone here can fill in the blanks.

see below for another option for the frame resize:
