You evidently haven't read the README file that comes along with OPS5, at least in current distributions. It begins: This directory contains the source for the Common Lisp OPS-5, which is known to work in Franz Inc.'s Allegro Common CL as long as it is running in :case-insensitive-upper mode (the Common Lisp style). To build OPS5, edit `Makefile' to reflect the pathname of the Allegro CL binary, then type "make" in this directory... The default case mode for Allegro on a NeXT workstation is :case-sensitive-lower, because otherwise interfacing to Objective-C is very tediuos. Before trying to build _or_ _use_ ops5 with the default :case-sensitive-lower lisp image, you'll need to set the case mode. See the Makefile in the ops5 directory to see how this is done. By the way, the comp.lang.lisp.franz newsgroup really concerns Franz Lisp, an older dialect of lisp. It has nothing to do with Allegro Common Lisp, which is an implementation of Common Lisp.
