Haskell is a functional language which has been developed over the last few years by an international group of people. The language spec and compiler are publically available, the main ones having been written at Yale, Glasgow & Chalmers (Sweden). The group hopes the language will become a standard in the functional world, though not everybody is enthusiastic about it (and yet I still posted this answer :-)). Read comp.lang.functional for further details.
