It was by listening (reading) in on these little language wars that I was introduced to Perl in the first place. If I hear (read) something that catches my attention, see something that looks as though it might be a useful tool for a particular problem, or just hear enough testimonials from lovers of a particular language, it often inspires me to go check it out. I *love* to hear (read) two people who really know a lot about a language, but have different opinions, fight it out. The result has been a significant expansion in the number of languages I use, rather than just using C for everything. (Actually, the truth is, it has expanded my repertoire enough that I *never* use C for *anything* anymore!) Keep up the preaching! Those who aren't interested certainly have no difficulty skipping over a thread, and those who are can learn a lot from "comparative linguistics". ;-) __Glen Perkins__ -- +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
