Does anybody have the same experience? On my fastest computer most uptodate computer running XP home I can't even start the BP or the BPW environment anymore. Text mode programs etc. Tried all the compatibility modes. nothing works. A notebook running ME the graphic modes won't work anymore. A newer notebook running XP but not recently connected to the internet still works. Am I crazy or what? Does any know a solution? -- Femme

A reinstall will probably fix this. But since that is an ugly solution, I'd wait to see if anyone knows of a better fix. -- Charles Appel http://charlesappel.home.mindspring.com/ Home of Chuck's Poker Libraries for Delphi, Chuck's Video Poker and Chuck's Toys

Or you must switch off the updates and become vulnerable to attacs. The 27Th december I posted something in clpb. I'm quite sure it was still working then. Tried to undo the automatic update with system recovery, but there is nothing to undo Can anybody confirm this mistake or is it probably something on my computer? -- Femme

Just do a start->run->"cmd" and then "cd \bp\bin" and "bp" and tell us what happens. Try "turbo" as well to eliminate any DPMI issues.

Borland Pascal 7.0, BPW 7.0 and Turbo Pascal 5.0 are all running on my machine. On the XP machine all dos 16 bit support was gone. I removed a spyware program called Winservad.exe. This is known to use illegal 16 bit instructions. Apparently the file autoexec.nt was removed. According to MS knowledge base 324767/nl, the cause is either config.nt, autoexec.nt, command.com which all should be in the in the windows/system32 directory. The notebook with Win ME has developed lots of other stability problems. So not being able to show graphics might have other causes. Any suggestions here are welcome, but it looks like I have to re-install an OS there. -- Femme

In fact, install Windows 2000. Unless you need to play legacy Win9x games, W2K is more stable than any Win9X and just as usuable.
