Below is the text of an email I sent to David Intersimone, he who writes on the Borland Museum pages. Email was sent on 6 January, reply is still outstanding, Borland really cares for its customers... --- Text --- Hi David, This is a question with regards to the Borland Museum & BP7. I'm one of the people who downloaded all your museum piece compilers, except TP2, which I already owned. The only one still missing from my collection is now TP4 (and the TP6.01 maintenance release). Getting TP3.02 was especially nice, as I only had the plain TP3.01A (no 8087/BCD support) version, bought way back in the mid eighties. Of course, as a user of the TP6 Professional & BP7 versions, I don't really have much use for them. The latter of these two, BP7, has, as you may be well aware, a nasty little bug that shows up on fast machines. I've recompiled my RTL, so it doesn't hurt me anymore, and there are many other patches and replacement units around to do the same, but Borland doesn't really want to know. My question? Would it be possible for Borland to make the source of CRT available, under the same conditions as the old compilers, or possibly with even less restrictions (GPL?), so that we, the users, can make our own optimized/non-RTE200 versions freely available. Your current no-nonsense agreement already allows distribution of the binaries, but distributing the source is explicitely forbidden. However, given the fact that both Delphi 1 (with the complete VCL source!) and Delphi 2 have been made freely available as magazine cover CDs (at least here in the UK) I'm of the opinion (but who am I?) that you would create a lot of goodwill by doing the same, even if only on your own site, for the CRT source. Looking forward to your reply, Regards, --- Text --- Robert -- Robert AH Prins prinsra@willis.com Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Same with numerous mails from FPC core members to Inprise to release, or at least take a stand on Turbo Vision. Only an informal visit of a member to Inprise informed us that we were supposed to take it of the site.
