Data Entry problem

I am porting a VB application in Delphi.
It has a very complex settings section, with more than 700 values to be
inserted in various forms.

In VB I made a centralized declaration of these fields - say an array of
field descriptors.
So every field has:
- a name ( to be shown in the form)
- a short name
- a type (string, numeric, date, ecc.)
- a range (min, max)
- a mandatory property
- a set of permitted characters (for string fields)
- an SQL type (for creating a table in DB)
- an SQL field name (for creating a table in DB)
and so on...

Then I associate every field (say TextBox) in the form with one of these
field descriptors, and a special set of routine let the form work fine,
magically!

I was wondering what to do with delphi about this subject.
Can anyone suggest me a suite of components (freeware or open source) or a
different approach to do this porting?
Thanks in advance

not sure what your looking for but maybe a record is what you want.

Type
  TypeSet =(String, Numeric, data, etc);
  MyRecord = Record
   name:string[128];// fixed 128 charactor string.
   SortName:String[128];
   ModeType:TypeSet;
   Range:Array[0..1] of integer;
   Mandatory:Boolean; // maybe?
   PermittedChars:String[MaxLengthNeeded?]; // must load this field from
and out side source
   etc...
  End;

Just a thougght//
