I want to be able to create SUPER components (aka. aggregate / composite ) VISUALLY. Then I want to be able to visually redesign and tweak it - any time I want. Is this asking too much? All the super component builders (both free and shareware and CDK, as well, it seems) let you IMPORT a panel with multiple components on it, and create a single new component. But none of them let you go back and VISUALLY re-design, re-align etc. the component using the panel on the original source form. Once the component is created, you can only tweak the resulting component using code / or the tool itself. The panel on the original form where you designed the component is useless (unless you throw away the generated component, tweak the component on the panel of the orignal form, then re-generate the component again). Here are examples (Taken from Marco Cantu's Delphi's Developers Handbook) of component building tools that work this way. e.g. http://www.jt.w1.com/sharewar.htm http://www.compcreate.com/ http://www.obsof.com/download.html It seems that Eagle Software's CDK also works this way. http://www.eagle-software.com I was hoping the latest incarnation of CDK would allow 'visually redesign' functionality - but from studying the help file - it seems to work the same as the others. :-( Sergey's CCPack is the only component tool I have found that lets you modify the aggregate/super component again and again. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Way/9006/index.html Its a pity Sergey's CCPack has next to no documentation and is effectively unsupported, otherwise it would suit my development needs just great. Nevrona's Propel http://www.nevrona.com/index.htm allows 'visually redesign' of a component, but the documentation is too complex for me (though the introductory chapters are fine), and there seem to be no users actively talking about this tool on their mailing list. I don't want to invest time in something too unique and non-standard, and expensive. Any comments on my assessment of the aggregate/super component creation tools marketplace? I could be missing something. --------- Andy Bulka abulka@netspace.net.au +613 9593-1389 / Australian Toolbook User Group www.atug.com \_.--._/ "Author Level - and loving it"
