Paradox "Directory is controlled by other .net file"

Ok, I've written multiple multi-user programs without problems, but now I've
added another program to the company network, and it cannot be run with
either other applications that use the same database, or even another copy of
itself on another PC.

App1 works fine. Multiple users no problems.
App2 ditto.

App3 has an error if App1 or App2 or App3 (itself) is already running
Once started, App3 causes the error for App1 and App2.

The error is: "directory controlled by other .net file"

I have everyone mapped to the data drive in the same way ( "R:\DATA" ) and
the Paradox Net File is set to this directory. I create a local private
directory and set the BDE to use it with dbiSetPrivateDir(). All
applications access the "R:\DATA" directory using an Alias set to that
directory.

I don't understand why this one application has this problem. What other
settings am I overlooking. I can't duplicate this problem on my PC. (I'm
not on the company network, and I can run both apps at once without
problems.) Thanks for all ideas in advance. E-mail cc's appreciated.

Are you saying you're assigning the same Private directory to
multiple apps on the same machine? If so, that's your problem.
By the way, it may be a bit easier to set the property
Session.PrivateDir rather than using a BDE API call.

No, Each App creates its own private directory. And the problem still exists
if I run App1 on one PC, and App3 on a second PC.
