Hi all, I gather that the problems I'm having getting D3 to work with Access 97 are not unique. It seemed to work OK when I upgraded from Access 95 to Access 97, but it won't work on a fresh install of Access 97. Also I had no luck getting an install program working with InstallShield Express, D3 and and Access database. My question: does D4 work cleanly with Access97, and is it possible to write an installation program (assuming Inprise still bundles an install tool with D4) that sets up the BDE, the aliases, and the app for a program that talks to Access 97? I'm not about to shell out $$ for an upgrade to InstallShield, but I would consider it for Delphi. Any suggestions, or should I just dump Access? Thanks in advance, Dan

I was able to get D3 working fine with free installs of Access 97. I have given my tips to people using D4 and Installshield, so I suspect an upgrade will not help you, as the version of Installshield is probably the same. To get installshield express to install all of the DLLs you need, you need to run the explorer, go to the BDE directory, and drag some extra files into Group/Files section titled BDE/IDAPI files. The files you need are (from memory, you may need to try more): bantam.dll idda3532.dll *.btl charset.cvb -- Oliver oliver@zip.com.au Sashalom Pty Ltd Ph: +61-2-9283-1377 (w) 9675-1769 (h) 0411 754 414 (mob)

Yes, Delphi4 works fine with Access97 . The only thing you have to do is to start BDE configuration >Configuration >Drivers > Native > MSACCESS and change the DLL32 option to IDDA3532.DLL.
