Q: To MDI or not to MDI?

I'm designing an application in which I have multiple instances of two
different components, each representing a different view of data. Under D5,
the components will be confined to separate frames within the main form (ie.
instances of component 1 are contained in frame 1, instances of component 2
are in frame 2).

Using tabs, it is possible to navigate between the controls and update the
main menu depending on which frame receives focus. However, one limitation
of this approach is that it doesn't allow the user to have multiple
components visible at the same time. Child windows could be used get around
this, but I ultimately don't want to reinvent MDI.

Is it possible/advisable to use MDI in this situation and confine the
MDIChild forms to a specific frame?

Thanks for your help!

Mark
