The situation : Two programs; One, a configuration program the other, an automated mailer that gets launched by a task scheduler. The configuration program, among other things, will save an Outlook/MAPI profile name and a password for the mail subsystem, to a configuration file. Automated program picks up the configuration file, logs into mail subsystem, sends one message (address is another configuration option), logs off. My problem is this : either MAPI comes back with its own password screen and a little checkbox that lets you save the password permanently to its own internal configuration, or it goes and logs you straight into the mail system without a password screen (i.e. you have previously saved the password). In either case, it seems to ignore all passwords I pass as a parameter to the MAPILogon function, regardless of what I set for the flags parameter and regardless of whether the password is correct or not. I am trying to allow for a situation where the user is happy to save a password for this program to send messages, but doesn't want anyone to use Outlook itself withour entering a password, which I think is the case if you put a tick in the checkbox on the login screen. My test machine is running Outlook 2000, if that matters (?). Ta very much in advance BM
