Enumeration of Network Adapters - even disabled ones

Hi Everyone, I need some help to find the right direction, what to look
for.

The aim is to enumerate the network adapters (and get their status) in
my program. I need EXACTLY the datas I can read in Windows's "Network
Connections" window. (Adapter "friendly" name, connected, disabled,
etc)

I thought GetIfTable and/or GetAdaptersInfo API functions will do that,
but I was wrong: these functions don't return the disabled adapaters.

So where do all the information come from in the "Network Connections"
window? Other API functions? Registry?

(WMI is out of question: my prog must run on regular (WMI-less) Win98
machines as well.)
