I have astered syntax highlighting of a sort, using a Rich Text memo.
Now I want to idnicate invalid control characters in my ascii text
input stream. The best I can come up with so far is to replace them
with a space (or asterix, for display purposes) and underline it in
red.

It's sort of ok, but I'd like it to stand out more - either with a
sort of frame around the character, or a solid box. I imagine I might
achieve the latter if I could change the background colo(u)r of a
single space chatracter.

Any sugegstions?
