I'm sure this question has come up before but I have not seen any recent
posting on the subject so here goes...

We are running a IINTX printer connected to a UNIX box for running all
kinds of useful PostScript jobs.  Very occasionally we would like to print
files in Diablo emulation mode. We do not want to change hardware switches
or even mess with the eescratch stuff (don't want to wear out our eerom).
We were trying something like this:

        serverdict begin
		specialswitch 0 get
		end exec
        The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
        The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
		...(rest of text for Diablo job)

Problem is, this procedure puts us in Diablo mode but does not set
transparent mode on the comm line.  In short we cannot send CR (0x0d) to
the printer which makes printing more than one line kind of difficult!

Does anybody have a working procedure for switching to Diablo mode and back
again from PostScript? Alternatively can someone tell me how to get
transparent mode set on a comm line (preferably for the duration of one job).
