On page 61 of the second edition of the red book it briefly mentions
(without an explanation) that the page level restore should occur
immediately BEFORE the showpage. Why?

When I do the following with a restore before the showpage I get 
blank output:

	MyDict begin
	/pageVM save def
	792 612 0 0 setpageparams
	(stuff) show
	pageVM restore
	end
	showpage

It seems to have something to to with setpageparams.
