Everything I know about the Open Prepress Interface comes from an article I read last year in the _Seybold Report on Publishing Systems_, Vol. 20, No. 17, ISSN: 0736-7260, May 29, 1991. It is simply a convention for embedding instructions into PostScript files to tell the output device where and how to merge various text and graphics components of a page. The components themselves are PS files that may have been composed at different times on various computers. It has its roots in Aldus's PageMaker. Its main trick is to let users manipulate low resolution images on their screens, for editing, cropping, color correction, etc., and then reference the full resolution image, with all the modifications, to the printer. Its designed for high resolution image setters and so won't help folks who want to stick to 300 dpi as much. Contact Aldus for more info. -- =-=-=-=-==-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Harry Parker Electronic Imaging Platform Center email: hparker@raster.kodak.com or ..!uunet!sisd!hparker snailmail: Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester NY 14650-0807
