Hi Netters, In article <keNK_di00Uh7I146Ap@andrew.cmu.edu> sean+@andrew.cmu.edu (Sean McLinden) writes: References: <5BBHP74@taronga.com> <1992Jul13.195234.2231@canon.co.uk> <id.L5HR.ZY4@ferranti.com> >>>I don't see that at all. Another problem with NeWS was that few applications exploited its power... the only ones I can think of are Frame (ahem :^) HyperLook and SimCity. If you don't know what HyperLook is you should get hold of the FREE runtime version (if only for the full featured PostScript Graphics Editor). You might also want to look at that well known GIS application SimCity :^) The HyperLook Runtime system is available for free via anonymous ftp, from the following systems: turing.com (192.133.90.28) pub/HyperLook1.5-runtime.tar.Z ftp.uu.net (137.39.1.9) graphics/NeWS/HyperLook1.5-runtime.tar.Z src.doc.ic.ac.uk (146.169.2.1) computing/vendor/turing.com/HyperLook1.5-runtime.tar.Z SimCity, the award winning game, developed using HyperLook is now available for FTP too! turing.com (192.133.90.28) pub/SimCity.tar.Z ftp.uu.net (137.39.1.9) vendor/dux/SimCity.tar.Z src.doc.ic.ac.uk (146.169.2.1) computing/vendor/turing.com/SimCity.tar.Z You should get the files "SimCity.README" and "SimCity.INSTALL" before you decide to ftp SimCity. HyperLook Requirements ---------------------- - SunOS 4.1.1 or higher on a SPARC workstation - OpenWindows version 2.0 with TNT version 2.0 or OpenWindows version 3.0 - Gray/Color screen P.S. turing.com has a pretty slow link. -- Doug Scoular "The big print giveth and the Senior Rock n Roller small print taketh away" E-mail: dug@turing.ac.uk Tel: +44 41 552 6400 Postal: The Turing Institute Ltd.
