I'm just starting to program postscript so apologies if this is FAQ or just plain stupid. I'm trying to write a program which will take some data from a simulation and produce a simple working drawing with dimension. The graphics works fine, but when I start sending text, the printer aborts half way through. I'm working from a Sun workstation so it's difficult to check the printer errors. However both ghostscript and Pageview like what I have written. I've traced the problem to the 'stringwidth' operator. Even if I just add the line: (Hello) stringwidth pop pop which shouldn't have any effect, the printer bombs out. Doesn't the lasewriter support this operator? Is there another way if simply finding out the width of a string? Thanks in advance for any help, Chris Horne cdh@uk.ac.cam.eng
