xps problem

   I recently obtained a copy of xps from bu.edu and compiled it on 
 SUN4 running X11R3. 
 However, the command 
        % xps -c A4 postscript-file-name 
 ellicts no response but for a  ^G. 

       Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
