this looks like a FAQ question (if not, it should be).  i'm also having 
the same problem with *all* of our postscript-enabled hp laserjets.
a friend mentioned a better version of dvips that produces a hp-palatable
postscript, but i never tried it.  besides, i have some dvips postscript files
that come distributed without the dvi source files.  

is there a filter out there that takes a dvips postscript file and 
converts it to hp-printable postscript file?
