Using AFM Kern info in EPS files

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had written a program that redefines the
show, ashow, kshow, stringwidth, etc, operators to use kerning
information from an AFM file. For example, a program that using an
AFM file as input, generates a table in PostScript which would be
placed in an EPS file and used by the redefined text operators to
kern character pairs placed.

Is this request clear? Is there a a better method to achieve the
same results?

Please reply by mail; I will summarize any useful responses.
Thank you for your time,

Shad
