<That's not what EPS is for! PostScript is for "just printing". EPS is
<to facilitate the inclusion of imported (through one means or another)
<PostScript into a PostScript folder. You shouldn't really be able to
<print EPS because it shouldn't really have a 'showpage' (though most do).
<Even if it has a 'showpage' it should have at most one and that should
<probably be ignored by the surrounding REAL PostScript.
Let me put it this way. If the included PostScript doesn't print standalone,
it more-than-likely will not print if included into another document. It is
a good idea to test the standalone EPS file to make sure that it will print.
Because an EPS file IS PostScript, just with special comments, it should be
able to print standalone.
<If EPS is just PS, who invented EPS and why? It's not and there are all
<kinds of rules (though not strict enough) about what you should (or mainly
<should NOT) do in an EPS description.
But EPS is PostScript, pure and simple. Sure there are some rules. The rules
are there to keep the main PostScript from being corrupted. Using a showpage
does not corrupt the main document, as the showpage can be temporarily defined
to do nothing.
I hope this helps a little bit.
