If they're "kosher" PostScript, no problem. If they're Mac-
bastard-PostScript, you'll probably need to run them through
the publicly-available "macps" program first. PostScript
produced by FrameMaker 2.0 on Suns that explicitly checks for
fonts using StandardEncoding (NeXT's supplied fonts provide the
extended NextStepEncoding instead) won't reencode properly.
(There's an easy fix.) Other than that, I can't say that I've
run into any serious printing problems.

Sure does. So does TeXview, the onscreen previewer. If you
prefer troff (grin), Adobe TranScript is there too (and that's
Previewable onscreen as well). Saves toner and trees.

NeXT sells two "dumb" printers that use the software-RIP
capability (as will third-party dot-matrix printers such as the
Epson 510 or IBM ProPrinter 24P--now functional as PostScript
Level 2 devices). Of course, you can also use any printer (or
imagesetter) with a built-in PostScript interpreter via a serial
connection, or Ethernet using TCP/IP, EtherTalk (Phase 1 or
Phase 2), or whatever gobbledygook "NetWare compatible" beasts
want.

Yeah, the trusty ol' LaserWriter II NTX seems positively glacial
by comparison. Seriously, though, my biggest complaint is that
NeXTSTEP only includes the Standard 13 Adobe Type 1 fonts; if
you want the Standard 35N that every "normal" PostScript printer
provides, you'll need to shell out for the "Adobe Plus Pack for
NeXT" to complete the set. It's not like we're talking about
huge sums of money (especially with an educational discount), but
I find it annoying that this wasn't part of the basic package.
