Hi all interested,
this seems not to be the whole truth,
it is possible to upload fonts from printer (maybe only AppleIINTX).

If you use MacIntosh and Altsys' application "Metamorphosis",
(including selected option: ... load fonts from printer) you can
extract Type 1 or Type 3 e.g. from printer and generate Fontographer Database-file.
Next step: try Altsys'"Fontographer" to generate bitmap and diff. outline-font-formats.

P.S. "Metamorphosis" didn't work with an Emerald-RIP-included harddisk!
