In <1ds0feINNq9c@moe.ksu.ksu.edu> I write:
]copies it first, and then prints it. Usually it copies it to somewhere in
]/var/spool (but see your /etc/termcap to be sure).

 As pointed out by Bill Pringle, I of course meant /etc/printcap. My mistake!
