bitmaps and the imagemask operator

I am trying to produce a postscript file of a 48 x 48 bitmap...

using imagemask..... 

what i get..

	every six lines of the bitmap are reveresed (no mirrored is a better description)
 	
	i'll try and describe it in a diagram 


               /\         \    /
              /  \         \  /
             /    \         \/   
            /      \   \          /
           /        \   \        /
          /          \   \      / 

           correct        what i get ( assuming 1 slash/slosh is two line of a bit map )
