Printing CT/MRI Images in Postscript

Hi,
I want to print CT or MRI images in Postscript. I was thinking of
compensating for the lack of pixel depth (B/W) by the resolution
of the printer, basically have dither patterns for the pixel value.
Has anybody done such a thing or have a better method?
Thanks
