The best package for manipulating graphics images of all sorts, including changing GIF images and other image types into PostScript for printing, is IMHO the pbmplus package by Jef Poskanzer. It is ftp'able from a large number of ftp sites. The machine export.lcs.mit.edu (18.30.0.238) has it in the directory /contrib/pbmplus.tar.Z. (Posted instead of mailed because other people may be interested in this.) BTW, "export.lcs.mit.edu" used to be "expo.lcs.mit.edu".
