Anybody have good ideas on how one could print characters with
a "3D block" type effect. I have tried:

/Str (THIS IS A TEST) def
Str gsave show grestore
-2 -2 rmoveto
.5 setlinewidth
Str gsave 1.0 setgray show grestore
Str true charpath stroke

But of course this does not "Connect" the images so it looks more like a
shadow than 3D block.

I know I could use a for look with a small increment! But It seems to
waste intense amounts of printer CPU time.

Thanks in advance,
Karl
