dvips installation. Not finding fonts

I just finished compiling dvips (under ISC 3.2 2.0.2) and tried working with
it.  When I run a .dvi file through it, it keeps giving me errors about not
finding the "fonts."  I followed the directions in the INSTALLATION file (
make, make install).  Is there something I'm missing?  Thanks.
