Reading external data files

I would like to generate a Postscript form letter and then merge data
into the letter from an external data file. The letter would continue
to print as long as new data remains to be read. The data would
consist of an address block 35 charaters wide by 8 lines deep. There
would be no control codes delimiting each record.

This seems possible using readstring or readline but not being an
expert I could use all the examples, tips and techniques I can get.
Thanks.
