Although it's not precisely what you request, there is a program in the
Adobe Tutorial/Cookbook ("Blue Book") which takes a PostScript space and
prints it on multiple smaller sheets, suitable for pasting together.

Sounds like you want something generically applicable, and this refers to
a specific page size, but it's not far off, and if you read the book you'll
know how to modify it :-)
