How are LZW-compressed TIFFs handled in Postscript (I'm thinking of a compressed TIFF placed in a Quark XPress document)? How is the image uncompressed? Is the decompression routine included in the postscript, or can the PS interpreter deal with the compressed image directly? How fast will the decompression run on a Linotype RIP 4 (a 68020)? I'm wondering if the savings in disk storage and transfer time (the RIP 4 is on LocalTalk) will be lost in decompression time at the RIP? Thanks, Jeff -- Jeff's Oasis at Home.
