I presume you are using the parallel port?

From the rest of what you say, I can think of two things that might
cause this behavior, although there are probably others:

1.) Out-of-band characters. If the file contains characters
with the high bit on, the transmission over a serial line
set up for 7-bit transmission might be a problem. Alternatively,
if it includes certain control characters, including ^C, ^D, ^Q,
^S, and ^T, everything will work fine on Appletalk, but these
characters will be separately parsed on serial or parallel. This
would probably cause a PostScript error, which would be silently
swallowed if you are on the parallel port.

2.) Line truncation: The Mac uses ^M to terminate a line, while the
PC uses ^M^J. If the Netware, the spooler, or some other PC
software component is reading lines of data, yours may be
getting chopped by the intermediate steps.

Have you tried downloading an error handler? This might catch the
error and print a page with some cryptic but possibly helpful info.
Also, can you tell mee what kind of jobs these are? One page graphics,
ten page documents? What else?
