"Ok, there are all these PS printers out there with scsi ports
on them. WHY aren't they used for input."
Imagine you hook together a system with a Sun, a printer, and a couple
of drives, all on the same SCSI bus.
The first interesting question is: who is the system controller? Both
the Sun and the printer want to be the master.
The next interesting question is: but what about the disk drives? When
a printer sees a disk drive, it assumes that it owns that drive. If it
sees a Sun format disk drive, it's not going to be happy.
Certainly you could dream up solutions to these problems, and we've
thought about it. We haven't yet seen a situation in which enough
customers would want the capability for us to spend the money creating
it. ("Want the capability" here means "would buy with it, but wouldn't
buy without it.")
