<>You will need to send to output to a PostScript printer that has a parallel

<Sorry Michael, this is really close to being 100% bogus...
<
<Raw has nothing to do with 8 bit. Except in really primitive (V7 or
<older pure BSD) systems.
<
<Any system that supports termio or termios (System V, SunOS, HPUX, AIX,
<*anything* with any pretensions of being Posix compliant) can go to 8 bit
<and transmit *any* byte from 0x00 through 0xff without going "raw" or even
<"cbreak" or losing XON/XOFF flow control. It's just a "stty cs8 -opost".
<(8 bit, plus no output processing - tab expansion, and \n processing
<must be disabled.)

Sorry, didn't know that it changed. Thanks for the info. I was used to the
old BSD stuff that I worked on. Good news though.

<The original poster's problem is actually making sure that the *printer*
<doesn't barf on control characters. Like having 0x03 in an image causing
<the printer to abort the job. As others have mentioned, *some* printers
<can't manage this.

At least I got something right. :-)
