This is probably an FAQ, but I couldn't find it in news.answers What is a PFM file? Is there any way to take a PFM and generate an AFM. Why do I ask? Well I have some pfb fonts that I want to include in my TeX files. These fonts have accompanying pfm files. TeX needs appropriate TFM files to typeset. If someone can tell me how to PFM -> AFM then I can use afm2tfm to AFM -> TFM I hope I'm on the right track! Thanks in advance John. ################################################################################# John Roumeliotis # Phone : +61 6 2688734 Mathematics Department, # Telex : ADFADM AA62030 University College, # Fascimile : +61 6 2688886 University of New South Wales, # E- Mail : jxr@maadfa.adfa.oz.au Australian Defence Force Academy, # Northcott Drive, CANBERRA ACT # Australia 2600 # #################################################################################

I don't know who maintains the ps-faq, but here are some answers.

This is a Printer Font Metrics File used by Windows to store a sub-set
of the metrics that are in an AFM file.

Yes, ftp dmpfm151.zip from ftp.cica.indiana.edu (directory /pub/pc/win3/fonts)
Please not however that the best way to get metrics is by getting an AFM
file. Most other font metrics files store only a sub-set, so if you
recreate an AFM file from a PFM file, you loose information.
