Drivers for GS on 486/MSDOS

I previously posted an article asking for help with
	PS -> Inkjet drivers.
Some subscribers mentioned Freedom of Press and Ghostscript. I wish to
thank them for their help.

I am now thinking of purchasing a Canon BJ10ex or a HP Deskjet500. I've got
GS, and it works fine when you ask it to output to the screen, but I haven't
got a clue on how to get it to output to any of the printers mentioned above.

C or C++ is not my forte. I don't have access to a C compiler anyway, so are
there any executable drivers out there that can perform PS -> Bubble/Inkjet
on my 486 under Dos 5.0?

Any response would be greatly appreciated
John.

I recently grabbed a copy of Ghostscript for DOS from a SIMTEL20 mirror
site (wuarchive.wustl.edu) and it was compiled with a multitude of
drivers. I get very nice output from my HP DeskJet 500 with the
following command:

GS386 -sDEVICE=djet500 filename.ps

Or, if you're using IBM OS/2 2.0, you can make a Ghostscript icon and
drag Postscript files onto it and they'll spit off the printer:

Program settings:

        Path and file name: drive:\path\DOS4GW.EXE
                Parameters: GS386 -sDEVICE=djet500 -sOUTPUTFILE=LPT1.OS2
         Working directory: drive:\path

Session settings (DOS settings for DOS full screen/DOS window):

              DMPI_DOS_API: ENABLED
         DMPI_MEMORY_LIMIT: 4 (or more)

You don't *need* the -sOUTPUTFILE=LPT1.OS2, but it appears to make
printing a little smoother.

(OS/2 2.0 users may also want to check out the Ghostscript 2.5 beta 1
available on ftp-os2.nmsu.edu... it has a Presentation Manager driver!)
