Where's the PS Level 2 LaserWriter Driver?

About eighteen months ago Adobe sponsored several "Technology Conferences"
in which they announced the new PS Level 2 capabilities and compatible
products. Sounded great! I even bought several new Level 2 compatible
printers. However the printers are still being fed Level 1 "code" from
the Apple/Adobe LaserWriter drivers provided in System 7 (incl. Tune-Up).

Does anyone have a clue to the situation with updated drivers? Or was
I asleep as the train passed through the station?

Adobe is nearing completion of its Printer Driver for the Macintosh. I've
been using a pre-release copy, and it works wonderfully! It functions
as a replacement for Apple's LaserWriter driver. Look for it in
third quarter of 1992.

Do you mean fourth quarter, or are we going to see this driver in the next
month?

A quick lesson on the realitivity of time :^)

When vendors, especially developers, say third quarter, they mean they will
be done developing in third quarter, which means it will be ready to be
shipped in the fourth quarter, which means you will see it in the first
quarter of the next year. Unless, of course, you are dealing with a
retailer, which means you will see it in the second quarter.

Hardware, on the other hand, is slightly different. When they say
something will be shipped on a certain day, that means they will
put a label on it and call their shipping department to pick it up.
Allow another few weeks for it to get to the shipping dock, followed
by a few weeks for the shipper to pick it up, followed by ....

You get the picture. Besides, he said you should *look* for it, not
that you could see it :^)

(Sorry, I guess it is too early for me to be reading news today :^)

Great! Any dates for release of Adobe's Windows PostScript driver?
